The Rock Hall of Fame recently announced nominees for this year’s class.  To be eligible, bands and artists must have released their first material in 1985 or earlier.  Looking at the list (below), it’s clear they’re running out of suitable nominees — and thus, becoming more and more irrelevant. 

While visiting Cleveland for a wedding, we had a few hours to kill so we made our way to The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  Being “all about music” since an early age, I was pretty excited (read: giddy) to have a chance to check the place out.  The place, while very cool due to the content, just felt like they threw everything together and said HERE!  I didn’t get the feeling that all of this stuff, all of the memorabilia, really meant anything to the overall progress of the music industry — it didn’t portray a story. 

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is still worth checking out.  However, it’s no Cooperstown where even if you’re not a baseball fan, you’ll get tingles just watching how baseball really had an impact on society and culture.  But without further ado, I give you the 2011 Nominees… after the jump! continue reading
