It’s looking like Wyclef Jean will, infact, announce his presidency campaign. 

Lady Gaga has been nominated a record 13 times for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.  Videos?  Artists are still creating these things?  And people are still watching them? 

Shit is hitting the fan with the Steven Tyler and American Idol rumors going around.  Nigel Lythgoe is returning to the show and wants Paula to join him. 

The Beach Boys threaten to sue Katy Perry for her, “I wish they all could be California Girls,” line. 

Eminem is still leading the US Singles chart.  How do you guys still like this depressive clown?

Some unreleased Michael Jackson songs will be released in the fall.  Not exactly surprising.

And yes, I’m from New England, and I realize that not liking the Sawx is tantamount to blasphemy in these parts.  Oh well, go Cardinals!

Anyhow, last night’s game featured a lot to talk about in regards to music.

If you watched any of the pregame, you probably saw Dr. Dre, decked out in a personalized Sox jersey, taking batting practice and promoting his custom Red Sox Beats headphones.  But the interesting news came when he was being interviewed alongside record executive Jimmy Iovine.  When asked which song they would suggest a batter use as his at-bat music, they both said “Under Pressure” which is an as yet unreleased song by Dre and Jay-Z, presumably off Dre’s Detox album, which has long been talked about but still has not seen the light of day.  But the way Iovine described the song made it seem like it’s completely finished.  Perhaps, then, we’ll get a firm release date sometime in the near future?  I hope so.

In other music news, at least Keri Hilson didn’t butcher the national anthem like she did just last week.

Steven Tyler, on the other hand, there to sing “God Bless America” during the 7th Inning Stretch, didn’t sound so sharp:

It’s become customary in recent years in Fenway Park to play “Sweet Caroline” in the middle of the eighth inning, and for Opening Day, they got Mr. Neil Diamond himself to sing it live.  Pretty cool:

Luke Lewis, of NME.com, talks about music you once loved, but now can’t stand to listen to.  Mine would have to be the entire ‘Purple’ album by the Stone Temple Pilots.  As much as I loved that album, I can’t get myself to turn that baby on any longer.  What’s yours?

We learned, from guardian.co.uk, of Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler had auditioned for a possible Led Zeppelin reunion. And Tyler was rejected because he barely knew the Zeppelin catalog.

Justin Timberlake will be heading to Harvard to be honored as Hasty Pudding Man of the Year.  The Grammy and Emmy award winner will receive his pudding pot from the nation’s oldest undergraduate drama troupe at a roast scheduled for Friday.
